Welcome to TELCARE

TELCARE, winner of the 2009 CTIA People's Choice award connects the last mile between patient and caregiver using wireless M2M technology. TELCARE is also the recent winner of Best in Show at the Mobitechfest investor's forum held in Santa Clara, CA. The company's first product, due for release in Q2 2010 is the world's first cellular glucose meter, providing instant transmission of glucose testing results to a care management server and instant feedback and coaching to the patient. The global market for glucose meters and strips is targeted at the more than 20 million Americans with diabetes with an $8 billion market size.

Home glucose monitoring is universally recognized as essential to the management of diabetes and prevention of complications. A one unit reduction in A1c, the gold standard for glucose control is proven to result in a 37% reduction in complications and costs of care. This translates to annual savings in excess of $1000 for health insurers, employers, and patients. The initial target for our technology is 1) the health plan that is already committed to disease management for beneficiaries with diabetes and 2) the high volume diabetes specialist who employs diabetes educators to maintain contact with patients.

TELCARE plans to offer the TELCARE blood glucose meter solution (pending FDA clearance) to customers at prices currently paid for current (disconnected) glucose monitoring supplies. Thus, unlike nearly all disease management solutions offered today, TELCARE blood glucose meter requires no additional investment, merely a replacement of older technology for which insurers already pay. Moreover, the TELCARE blood glucose meter significantly increases the work productivity of disease management personnel who no longer need to spend time calling patients to ask for glucose data and can now relay simple coaching directly on the TELCARE blood glucose meter platform instead of using less efficient means of outbound communication.

The TELCARE blood glucose meter platform is based on an already FDA-cleared glucose meter platform that meets the latest standard of accuracy and offers auto-coding test strips, ultra-low sample volume, and alternate site testing. TELCARE has teamed with Sierra Wireless and Qualcomm to ensure that the wireless side of the platform is equally robust.

The product described has not yet been cleared for sale in the United States by the Food and Drug Administration.
